Incoming Erasmus+ Students – Welcome!

Thank you for your interest in studying at the University of New York in Prague under the Erasmus+ program!

You can read our Erasmus Policy Statement and see our Erasmus Charter for Higher Education 2021-2027 on our Erasmus+ homepage.

You can only study under the Erasmus+ program if your home University has a valid Erasmus+ agreement with us. You can find a list of our Erasmus+ partners below. If we do not hold an Erasmus+ agreement with your home University, you may be able to come to the University of New York in Prague on a fee-paying basis, as a Study Abroad student.

1. Nomination

Your home coordinator has to nominate you officially by an e-mail sent to the Erasmus+ coordinator erasmus@unyp.cz (without nomination you cannot reach the online application).

2. Online Application

Click on the web link which you will receive in the information e-mail and fill in the application.

Application Requirements
- A UNYP Online Application https://application.unyp.cz/
- A motivation letter (written in English – max. 400 words)
- High school diploma or provide name of high school
- Official University Transcript
- Letter from your home University confirming English language ability (waived for native speakers of English). If students are enrolled in non-English speaking degree program with partner university, they are requested to submit an English language proficiency test: TOEFL 72 I.B.T. or IELTS 6.0 and above
- Copy of ID or passport (plus digital passport photo)
  - Passport must be valid for at least the duration of program +3 months.

After submitting the on-line application you will have to send the application documents listed below by e-mail to the UNYP Erasmus+ coordinator erasmus@unyp.cz

3. Application Documents

Here is a list of application documents which you need to arrange and send by e-mail after submitting the online application:

learning agreement (LA)
your photo in a passport size
scan of your passport
scan of your Health Insurance European Card or other Health Insurance Certificate

Those application documents have to be scanned and sent by e-mail to the UNYP Erasmus+ coordinator erasmus@unyp.cz no later than the set deadlines (see below).

We DO NOT require originals sent by post.

After being Accepted to study at UNYP you will need to follow with these steps:

Review and sign Study Abroad contract
1. Once signed, scan and email the contract to UNYP (erasmus@unyp.cz)
Select 6-8 courses from the UNYP course offerings. Complete the Course selection form. Have your home university advisor approve these courses and submit the course selection sheet to UNYP (erasmus@unyp.cz)
1. Be sure that your home university has approved each of the courses that you list in your Learning Agreement. This will ensure that the courses you enroll in at UNYP will transfer back towards your degree at your home university.
2. The UNYP Registrar will then create a course schedule based on the course selection sheet.
Submit the learning agreement form to UNYP (erasmus@unyp.cz)
1. Once the registration from UNYP Registrar is complete, you can fill out the Learning Agreement.
Provide UNYP with a passport-style photo of yourself (erasmus@unyp.cz)
1. We will use this photo for your UNYP Student ID Card. The photo must be taken according to passport-photo requirements (https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/how-apply/photos.html)
Obtain UNYP Login Credentials for: Email, E-Learning, E-GNOMON
With Login Credentials, access E-Learning and complete pre-arrival quiz
Join UNYP Visiting Students Facebook Group
Arrive in Prague on Arrival Day
Check in to orientation at UNYP for Day 1 of orientation week
Upon arrival complete the arrival confirmation at the UNYP Center for Global Engagement
Receive signature from UNYP Center for Global Engagement on Learning Agreement during the semester
After your stay you must obtain a confirmation of Erasmus Study Period from UNYP Center for Global Engagement, and register for the UNYP Transcript of Record to be sent to your home university
Obtain signature from UNYP Center for Global Engagement on your Learning Agreement for Completion of Studies
Fill in EU Survey

UNYP can offer Erasmus+ students its Housing & Services program, in which UNYP guarantees a housing placement with other visiting students. More details on the UNYP Housing & Services program can be found in the “Costs” section.

If you wish to secure your own housing, please see some options listed below:

Several accommodations in Prague could be options for Erasmus+ students. As these are suitable housing options for many newcomers to Prague and availability may be limited, it is important to book a room early.

PLEASE NOTE: The student will be able to pick the type of room, but building management places the student into an available apartment. These accommodations are not student dormitories.

BELGICKA APARTMENTS

4-minute walk from UNYP

Two completely renovated residential buildings, ideally located, just 100m from UNYP. Students can choose one of 73 single or double rooms. The area, size, and number of single and double bedrooms (2 beds) apartments vary. The capacity of both buildings is 25 apartments totaling up to 120 beds.

DC REZIDENCE

30-35 minutes from UNYP by public transport (metro line C and bus connection)

Accommodation in single rooms in a renovated building, located in a quiet environment and providing students with all the services necessary for study and relaxation. DC Rezidence is part of a sport relaxation and gastronomic complex, which provides a wide range of services (restaurant, sports academy, wellness, laundry, etc.).

STUDENT HOUSE BOTIC (SHB)
15 minutes from UNYP by public transport (with tram connections)

Located in a residential area of Prague 10, SHB is close to public transportation and close to the city center and I. P. Pavlova area. It is a renovated residential building designed to accommodate 160 students in 92 rooms total: single, twin, and double. There are double rooms available for disabled persons.

The price includes all utilities (heating, water, electricity), 24/7 reception, high-speed internet, fridge in each room and common areas cleaning. Students are responsible for their room cleaning, possibility to arrange an extra charged room cleaning service.

Available in the building: kitchen for every 12 rooms, study rooms, storage room (bicycles, skis, etc.), fitness, student club, laundry, mailbox.

ZEITRAUM Student Housing

This provider offers dormitory style student housing that is easili accesible by public transportation. The housing is located in nice residential area of the city.

- The International Office will provide information on how to navigate the visa application process, and will also provide crucial documentation necessary for the visa application itself
Pre-Departure Orientation and Information
- Once you’re a confirmed participant in the program we will provide you with all the information you need to help you get ready to study abroad in Prague. A brief online pre-arrival quiz helps make sure you’re ready to go. Our staff is always available to help answer your questions, and can even connect you with current students for their perspectives and insights.
Airport Pick Up and Transport to Housing
- If you arrive at Prague’s Vaclav Havel International Airport (PRG) on the designated Arrival Day and tell us your arrival information in advance, our team of staff and student volunteers will meet you at the airport and take you directly to your housing in Prague. Then we will show you around the student residence and the local neighborhood so you begin to feel at home right away.
On-Site Orientation
- The day after Arrival Day, orientation sessions at UNYP will introduce you to your university home for the semester, your fellow students and instructors, and the lovely Vinohrady neighborhood.
Transportation Pass

Student Benefits Program
- Take advantage of the many discounts and other benefits available through UNYP’s student benefits program, including discounts on gyms, swimming pools, local restaurants, retail outlets, and hotels. Check out UNYP’s Student Benefits page for more details.
- The International Student Identity Card (ISIC) issued in your name, together with your UNYP ID card, will allow you to take advantage of student benefits across Europe.
Mailing of your Final Transcripts
- Once your grades are finalized at the end of the semester/term, your official transcript will be sent by standard mail to the address you indicate on your application (usually your university’s registrar’s office).
  Grades are finalized about one month after the final exam period is over.
  If you need additional transcripts later, just email UNYP’s Registrar’s office.
